Age discrimination is often not taken as seriously as other forms of discrimination. However, it can have the same economic, social and psychological impact as any other form of discrimination.

Ageism affects each senior differently and is compounded with gender, disability, sexual orientation, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, culture and language. It is urgent that diverse seniors gain the tools to recognize, and speak out against ageism.

Our project, Art Against Ageism, takes place virtually, every Tuesday from 1-3 PM. Seniors learn about different forms of ageism, such as within the workplace, healthcare, stereotypes, within common phrases, financially, in media and digital spaces.

This is paired with art sessions (painting, sketching, et cetera) to express their experiences with ageism. This will serve as a therapeutic outlet for seniors to release and show how ageism has affected them.
